SOS: Small, smart and everywhere!

Small Office Satellite. The smart way to cover monitoring small, remote locations cost effectively...

The Small Office Satellite (SOS) is a small dedicated fan-less low-power monitoring hardware appliance. It incorporates all the features and functions that a full isyVmon Satellite has to offer. It can also be configured as a Restricted Satellite for more secure and restrict network environments just as its big brother. But its hardware limitations can only serve checking around 50 services or 30 hosts (Depending on the types and frequency of checks). Which has proven to be ideal for most small remote locations!
Consider the following setup: You have a small external office that is integrated into your companies intranet but unfortunately only has a low bandwidth connection. Therefore you chose to replicate some of the services required for daily work to a set of on-site low-end workstations acting as servers. Computing power is sufficient enough to provide employees on-site with all the necessary services, but what you don't have and don't want on-site is an expensive hardware and power consuming loud virtualization server for running a common isyVmon Satellite monitoring system. This scenario is one of many that the Small Office Satellite was created for.
Or maybe your company has a very distributed infrastructure that has dozens or even hundreds of small remote locations that effectively need to be monitored without having to setup full fledged virtualization servers to solely host satellite monitoring systems at each site. Even not taking into account the amount of work necessary to deploy so many servers on a distributed enterprise scale the cost-benefit analysis is a nightmare. Again isyVmon SOS will make your day! Not only will the hardware limitations in most cases likely be more than sufficient. It's even a lot cheaper than its big brother or any virtualization server hardware.

Your whole IT-World on your iOS/Android Smartphone? isyVmon goes APP!

You want to check the live status of your IT-Infrastructure, whereever you are? Then isyVmon is...

With the isyVmon extension "isyVmon APP" you have the ability to acces your isyVmon enviroment using only your smartphone (Android / iOS). With this, you have the ability to observe your infrastructure worldwide and acknowledge or comment on problems within your infrastructure. For host- and service problems you will get alarms directly on your smartphone so you can respond immediately.
Flexibility allows you to connect to your Core, Standalone or even to a very specific Satellite system. The choice is yours! The extension uses the same new high performance data backend the Extended Status Map v3 (ESM) does. Offering a fast and reliable connection to your isyVmon system's data.
Setup and configuration of "isyVmon APP" is a breeze. Logon to the Admin-GUI (https://Your-isyVmon:5480) and start the "isyVmon goes APP" wizard. This will guide you through the configuration. At configuration time, you have the choice, if you want to allow direct access to your isyVmon enviroment or if you want to connect via an extra webserver, with the OS placed in a secure DMZ. For security reasons, latter configuration is recommended. Finally, you have to download the freely available app "jNag" (for Android / iOS) to your smartphone.
This extension is in beta status, but this only concerns the implementation of the appliance interface. The app "jNag" has been stable for a long time now and no longer is fighting any beta problems. (For more information, see the current changelog)
So, what are you waiting for? Give our idea of simple monitoring a try and download your free copy of "isyVmon Freeware Edition" today.
We would appreciate your personal feedback! Log into the isyVmon forum at
and share your wishes, opinion and feedback about this extension with us and others.

Discover your network - and monitor it!

isyVmon AutoDiscovery - greatly reduces the effort involved in configuring new systems in your...

isyVmon AutoDiscovery (ADI) simplifies the configuration of new systems in your monitoring system. ADI looks for active systems in a user defined network range. The proven network scanner nmap is used to gather information on your systems. After completing a scan the resulting systems are displayed in a list of DNS name and IP address pairs, allowing you to directly import them into your isyVmon configuration. In case nmap manages to identify the operating system of any components found, ADI will immediately offer a matching host template (which has to be defined by the administrator) or a standard template is chosen or the administrator selects one of his own choice.
You can quickly loose track of systems in extensive scan lists. ADI therefore enables you to use filter functions to simplify searching for certain DNS names, open ports found or instances identifying e.g. all web servers. Systems already setup in isyVmon are tagged making it easy to distinguish new systems. This way you'll only need a single glance at the scan results to decide whether there are non-monitored components in the scanned network range that need to be added to your current configuration.
During the import of new systems it is possible to immediately create applicable services (provided by the host template) and their names in case reverse DNS resolution fails. In most cases this procedure makes any further configuration work unnecessary.
A scan can be executed from the isyVmon Core or remotely from any of its Satellite systems. This way any network ranges not directly accessible from the core but from their respective satellite systems also become available for scanning. As a result you can also configure which satellite systems to run service checks from during importing.
isyVmon ADI eases searching for active systems and integrating these in your monitoring system. It helps reducing the probability of missing important systems setting up your monitoring solution. And the best thing is - ADI is included from isyVmon v2.4+ by default.

Extended Status Map (ESM) v3 released

Finally breach your limited view of IT-Monitoring! ESM v3.0 is done! It's faster, more versatile,...

What's new?
The main focus of the new ESM release was on improving performance and
usability, but of course that's not all it has to offer. ESM v3* is based on
a completely new data backend which speeds up the map drawing times and yet still manages to lower the load on your isyVmon systems. Displaying thousands of hosts at once is no effort for the new ESM. And besides that the awareness of problems within the map has been improved - even if you prefer working at high zoom levels.
As you may have expected ESM will very well integrate with isyVmon products and can be used with isyVmon Standalone, Core, Satellite and since v3 also with Restricted Satellite systems sitting in more secure and restricted network areas.
The automatic dependency displaying mechanism in ESM has been enhanced by being able to manually define your own completely independent dependencies. That means you are now able to create dependencies between systems that may have no actual physical but more of a logical, application dependent connection.
Customizing maps within ESM has been improved by adding options for showing your currently hidden hosts and entirely "freezing" your maps for keeping nice and clean views.
The new ESM release is proof of how customers can influence the actual isyVmon development process. 4 of the 6 new features included in this release were purely based on customer requirements. So don't hesitate and get in touch with us!
.. We believe the new ESM version has so much to offer that we've decided to
include a test version in our isyVmon Freeware Edition! This gives you the chance to take a look at all of its functions, to get a feel for the ESM itself and to try out the new features, of course. We welcome and value all feedback. So again don't hesitate and get in touch with us.

Give your infrastructure a voice!

isyVmon Advanced Notification (ANO) is a hardware appliance solution dedicated to alerting. Give...

isyVmon ANO is a recommended extension to any isyVmon enterprise solution and provides an interface for additional, less common and more infrastructure independent means of notifications.
isyVmon Standalone, Core and Satellite systems in their traditional setup only allow notifications by email and scripted interfaces. Using the isyVmon ANO interface to handle notifications extends the currently available means of notifications within isyVmon monitoring solutions by SMS (directly via GSM or depending on your telecommunications provider’s available SMS center via ISDN/analog lines) and voice messages using text-to-speech and preassembled audio files via GSM, ISDN or analog lines.
Imagine it’s Friday night, full backups are scheduled to start 1:00 am and nobody noticed that the backup server is running quite low on disk space. Just after the backup job starts the space finally is too low to complete the operation. But wait, you have a monitoring solution in place that triggers mail notifications and informs employees in charge. On Monday morning your IT department has a big surprise waiting, nobody actually received and read the mail notifications up until then. This is exactly where isyVmon ANO’s notification abilities would have helped informing the necessary people by SMS or voice. Actually telling them “Your backup server is running too low on disk space to successfully complete backup operations!”
isyVmon ANO is a smart toolkit and an insurance for notifications. It makes sure monitoring messages can be delivered to their destinations in a less infrastructure dependent way using dedicated phone or GSM lines. Even in cases when you are confronted with problems such as notification killing mail server outages it will continue to stand up. Combine isyVmon ANO + SOS with an UPS and you can even circumvent loosing notifications during total power losses.
isyVmon ANO is a product that will easily advance your notification services level to enterprise reliable high availability grade notification services.

In May 2011, the next Generally Available Release v2.2 of isyVmon will be published. It is both new functionality as well as bug fixes included.
With many new features isyVmon wants to build on the success of the previous version 2.0. isyVmon v2.2 offers improved SQL performance for large IT environments and for special requirements. Communication between the satellite and core can be set to "unidirectional" (Restricted Satellite). Within distributed monitoring this allows scenarios, in which a satellite can communicate to the core, but not vice versa. The satellites are controllable via its own Web GUI, regardless of the Core system. This can be used as a fallback solution or to restrict the view to the satellite. In addition, a License GUI for better management of personal licenses of isyVmon appliances are integrated.
Another highlight of the release v2.2 is the optimization of the workflow for alerting and troubleshooting, which is done through the integration of the Log Management System splunk>. The problem management workflow is shown as complete with two specialized and thus sophisticated tools. By intelligently integration the troubleshooting of reported alarms can be started out of isyVmon directly to splunk>. Conversely, also alerts from splunk> are figured out in isyVmon. Please notice, for the use of splunk> an isyVmon independent license is necessary. A freeware version is available on www.splunk.com.
Moreover, in isyVmon 2.2 Bug fixes contained, e.g.
Darüber hinaus sind in isyVmon 2.2 Bug fixes enthalten von u.a.

isyVmon is the enterprise-class monitoring tool based on Nagios and Centreon. As a virtual or hardware appliance isyVmon provides scalability and distributed monitoring with encrypted communications between core and satellites. The Freeware Edition - available on
- allows monitoring of up to ten systems.
